Various Artists – “RAVE 4 WOMEN Part 1” (Fluctuat Records) [April 22nd 2021]

Fluctuat Records’ first entry in the “RAVE 4 WOMEN” trilogy brings us rave-worthy dancefloor anthems from a collection of female artists spanning three continents, with the likes of Ayako Mori, Euyinn, and Sunny.K.

Founded by the French artist Coqman in Medellin, Fluctuat Records is an ambitious project seeking to foster meaningful connections in the techno community across the globe. With its latest V.A. release, the label demonstrates its will to enhance the visibility of underrepresented groups in the electronic music industry by placing a spotlight on female producers from different corners of the world.

This first opus to the “RAVE 4 WOMEN” trilogy, which altogether unites 21 female artists, gifts us with blaring techno delights from the likes of Ayako Mori, Kollision and Theychee. This release serves as an integral part of the Ars In Flores organization, a platform dedicated to providing support for women and queer folks through arts and culture initiatives such as workshops, classes, special programs and music distribution.

Aldanya inaugurates the compilation with her energetic opener “Big Rip.” Roaring with rapturous bass and sprinkled with playful melodies, the track foreshadows the release’s collection of dancefloor weapons that each bring in their own sharpness and vigor. Ayako Mori’s “Brünhilde’s Dream” follows with a darker tone and a faster pace, exuding unyielding power through a rave-drenched sonic atmosphere.

Euyinn, on the other hand, hints at an assertive conception of sexuality through her suggestive title, “Nice And Hard.” Barely intelligible whispers convey a sense of possessed sensuality, while the heavy and relentless quality of the beat radiates with an irresistibly dominating energy. Next, Evis May dives nose first into an orgy of aggressive sonorities summoning absolute chaos from the depths of hell for our unhinged listening pleasure.

Kollision brings back the groove with “Kut Throat,” an immersive rave anthem that brilliantly blends the psychedelia of trance with the ecstatic and explosive momentum of hard techno. By contrast, Sunny.K takes a more straight-forward approach to tempo by placing an intent focus on the unstoppable progression of her track and creates catharsis through rhythmic violence. Theychee concludes the compilation with “Give Me,” a tempestuous journey ridden with thundering kicks and spellbinding leads.
