Miami dynamic duo INVT (Luca Medici and Delbert Perez) sync up with the talented Miami producer/DJ Coffintexts to deliver a dynamite release “MEDIA NOCHE” (midnight). Bursting at the seams of “jungle, techno, footwork, latin percussion, synth ambience,” among other idioms, this release is filled with powerful, kinetic grooves that bring underground charisma and style from one of America’s EDM hotbeds.
“Cuerpo” (body) entrances us instantly with an ambient glow and synths that sizzle and stutter, with a fat bass kick to boot. Stretched vocals mystify their pronouncements in Spanish, declaring, “you’re listening to the sound of Innovate and Coffintext.”
In “No Entiendo” (I don’t understand), we are immersed in techno beats and latin percussive timbres, synth waves billowing, and a soft piano sample that drenches the track in sweetness. A sassy, deconstructed vocal repeating “I don’t, I don’t, I don’t understand it,” kick us with attitude, lest we forget the rude frustrations of living in hybrid worlds. The album features stretched vocals throughout, channeling an old-school House feel.
Closing out with the pernicious “Puro Locura” (pure madness!), the track begins with ominous, dissonant strings. Enter stomping, humid bass beats driveling through each beat aside skittish snares and synchronous claps that drive dancers into the ground. Made colorful with blaring synths and a taunting vocal line, the track’s rhythm seethes at breakneck speed that could serve as the tie-breaking round of a footwork battle. Yet just when it sounds like the track will reach a fever pitch, it dissolves unto itself, fizzling out with a discourteous mic drop.
