With a sophisticated mixture of progressive funk and acid tinge, MOY successfully creates a vision of utopia in “Acid Entrée.”
These euphoria laced acid grooves from London based MOY are destined for sunset gatherings around the globe. MOY has been on a hot streak as of late with complex, genre bending releases. “Acid Entrée” comes at a time where hope is more important than ever, inspiring artists, dancers, and DJs to keep pushing their crafts to a higher level. A mixture of soothing melodies and precocious low-end create awe inducing tracks for all types of listeners.
An immediate conception of breakbeat rhythm brings light to the release’s first track, “Superacid”. Lead acid lines warp in feelings of warmth and positive energy, setting the slate for progressive unison. Clever crescendo enables a quick breakdown leading to a psychedelic shaded synth. Well timed 303 claps and rimshots pack in a one, two punch as the grumbling bassline continues its trajectory. The velocity of the percussion’s tempo increases briefly as the Acid winds down and out. Short and to the point, the track’s versatility allows for quite the journey in just less than four minutes.
Aptly named “Magic Acid” encapsulates the same melancholic wonder displayed in the first track, this time showing off a more laid-back trip. Heavy reverb permits a delayed drum pattern to meld symbiotically with eerie, choral harmony. An acid arpeggio weaves it way in and out of sinister, drawn out bass making for an ethereal headspace. The mood the track brings is very visceral keeping you on the edge of your seat and at the same time, allowing the mind to wander freely. Heavenly chords add to the repeated synthesizer funk ending things in a pleasant manner. Destined for warm weather gatherings and festivals alike, “Magic Acid” undoubtably will see spins for months to come.
