Los Angeles’ own Israel Vines gets his 2020 Interdimensional Transmissions album And Now We Know Nothing remixed by serious talent across the globe, giving new perspectives on the haunting and breaky techno vibes.
U.K. duo Regis and Simon Shreeve aka Cub start it off with a rework of “Path Corrections”. A tripped out journey guided by the off-kilter kick pattern and an industrial noisy snare sets the tone for the record, also including a dystopian eerie pad that expertly brings the mood to a catatonic state much like the original.
Next up, also creating the album art, NYC-based Ken Meier takes on “Afterever”, following suit with a broken beat and noisy percussion. Meier enlists new groove after groove for a pleasing assortment of body movement changeups that add up to a frenzied and dynamic dance floor oriented remix.
BMG and Erika aka Ectomorph bring their Detroit flavor to “Nosedive” with a groovy bassline in front of a dark, chilling background. White noise sweeps and a rubbery synth sequence that ebbs and flows sway the energy around ever so subtly while the duo lets the beat keep the constant momentum needed on the dance floor.
On “Rage Afterever,” Further Reductions takes on the only vocal endeavor of the remix pack, adding angelic vocals and strings that mimic monk chanting into the mix. With a groove as tight as can be and the same ominous aura seen throughout the record, the Brooklyn-based duo provides a strong completion to the outstanding remix pack.
