Uncertain – “Sequence EP” (Kneaded Pains) [November 5, 2021]

Uncertain is back on UK label Kneaded Pains with three quick hitters for the jacking techno heads. Ferociously concocted to make dance floors go insane, the Austrian DJ/Producer takes a no nonsense approach to the arrangements and gets straight to the point on each 5 minute track.

The title track “Sequence” sets the tone for the record with a rolling bassline and swinging percussion that instantly lifts you to your feet. Choppy vocal samples add trippiness to the vibe while disco stab samples make the mood jovial. Unrelenting techno drum patterns switch up throughout and create the high energy with only a short 20 second break in the middle.

Next up “Machine” continues the fast-moving EP with the same formula, slamming beats and intoxicating vocal chops up front with funky tribal percussion in the back. The heavy bassline sits low like a pool of shallow water that also vibrates your bones. Uncertain shows his expertise in arrangement and mixing, properly evolving the vocal lines and fitting each sound into their own pocket for a very welcoming listening experience.

“Pattern” completes the EP with a bouncy bassline that instantly has your head bobbing. Surrounding the groove are flavorful reverbs and delays that soak the synthesizer lines, vocal cuts and clap fills for an enticing zest to his minimal sound. Like the previous tracks, the tempo and swing are flying high and locked tight. Another impressive release in the books for Uncertain, who has been extremely prolific in 2021 as we just covered his ‘Snatch’ release on GND Records a few months back.

“Sequence” is available on most streaming and digital platforms.
