Berlin techno mainstay Patrick Gräser, aka Answer Code Request, punches out hot new “Shattering” EP for the legendary imprint, Delsin Records. The longtime Berghain resident presents us with four tracks in his unique style, fusing breakbeat and techno that’s sure to keep your body in motion and your mind in the clouds.
“Resonate” opens up the “Shattering” record with a hearty jungle rhythm section that takes you on an infinitely-pleasing journey guided by beautiful, melodic synth infusions that penetrate deep into the soul. Progressively gaining momentum as the minutes fly by, the impeccable groove grows more powerful while the synth riffs inject more frequently until its abrupt ending makes you yearn for the next number.
The title track “Shattering” darkens the tone with a fat but warm kick and a more mysterious vibe coming from his synthesizers. Masterfully arranged breaks and changups give the stand-out track an unpredictable yet natural feel that challenges your body to absorb and move to all its intricacies.
“CRS-21” starts off the b-side with a head-bobbing, four-to-the-floor groove decorated with trippy machinery background noises that twist and turn with a life of their own. A little under halfway through, the prolific producer feeds his signature breakbeat drums into the mix before stripping them away, only to then bring them back even stronger. The marriage between the persistent kick and breakbeat drums gives way to a plethora of dance floor possibilities.
“Sustaining Life” completes the record with a slick dance floor destroyer ready to fire up the breakdancers. Following suit with the rest of the record, the final track features an impossibly tight groove, this time with a relentless kick and hi-hat combo that drives the body as the mellow undertones of the mix power the soul, forcing you to lose yourself in the music. A perfect ending to another graceful EP from the Berliner.
