Various Artists – “Contre tout, toutes et tous, la terre demeure” (Mama told ya) [July 15, 2022]

Anetha’s Mama told ya Records unites some of the most elusive rising stars in Techno for an incredible compilation titled, “Contre tout, toutes et tous, la terre demeure.”

Though still early since its inception, Anetha’s record label, Mama told ya, is already making waves. The former architect—now turned superstar DJ, producer, and label head—has been hard at work to bring her highly energetic take on Techno from her home in France to the rest of the world. With the label’s latest “Contre tout, toutes et tous, la terre demeure” compilation, which in English translates to “Against all, all and all, the earth remains,” Anetha joins 18 other producers from around the world to share their love of bombastic dance beats and rolling grooves.

Just like when Anetha hits the decks, this compilation blurs the lines between Techno and Trance. Tracks like “Kuvira Kombat” by Tahl and drazzit’s empowering cut, “You will respect me,” burst with color and share a classic Trance-y pep. At the same time, a few selections explore a more psychedelic route. Paul Copping’s “Ghost,” and “Trust your eyes” by Mac Declos feel deeply rooted in the fast and rolling sounds of Psy Trance while incorporating unexpected elements that subtly defy expectations. If Techno is more up your alley, cuts like the opening selection, “Bee Spleen” by Öspiel and the hard hitting, “Morning sex truck,” by Gutkein are sure to entice. Things get increasingly more intense and outlandish when the truly avant-garde producer, Nebuchadnezzar, appears on the compilation. His rapid fire beats and haunting sound design feel like entering brand new territory, and his track “Link my pager” nicely sets the tone for tracks like Nui.r’s “Intimate rumblings” as the end of the compilation nears.

With a compilation this eclectic and extensive, it feels nearly impossible to give each track the praise they deserve, so listening to this “Contre tout, toutes et tous, la terre demeure” compilation in its entirety is an imperative for fans of this music. If you like what you hear, consider purchasing the compilation in the form of a 100% recycled four vinyl set, available only for a short period of time as it is sure to quickly sell out. But even if you have missed your chance at copping the physical version, you can still support the artists and label with a digital download via the bandcamp page, linked above.
