Aron – “ELEMENTS : ARON” (Berg Audio) [October 12, 2022]

Berg Audio, the label that’s brought us some of the best works from modern House icons Traumer, Tripmastaz, Djoko, and Harrison BDP, unveils another top-tier Minimal House EP from Swiss producer Aron titled, “ELEMENTS : ARON”, including a remix by Sublee.

Over the last five years, French Dub Techno label Berg Audio has made a name for itself as a leading imprint for dub-infused House and Techno music. With several releases from some of the biggest up-and-comers in the Minimal scene under their belt, the label has proven to be an essential hub for Dub, or at the very least, cutting edge Dance music. Now, the latest artist to release under the label’s “ELEMENTS” series, Aron, makes a stellar debut on the label in the form of four original tracks and a remix from Romania’s rising star, Sublee, with “ELEMENTS : ARON”.

While each track starts off sounding ever so simple, Aron never stays in one place for long. The opening track, “Eos”, perfectly exemplifies this approach as it takes over two and a half minutes for the main melodic lead to emerge. Once it does though, it makes for a beautiful surprise. Gentle, bright, and uplifting, this track feels like a cool breeze as the sun sets—ideal for an outdoor soirée. Next is the track “Delaware” offering a rambunctious and moody cut that’ll likely have you hooked from the jump. Echoing chords pan all around in perfect ‘dub’ fashion. Spunky and oozing with swagger, this track will likely do wonders on the dancefloor.

Diverging from the overt Dub influence of the previous cuts is the vocal track, “Goodbye Bells.” Intricate fills entice, while ominous tones ring out and lure you in. A solid low end keeps you locked in its groove, but the domineering voice is really what steals the show. “You’ll be alright…” the voice affirms, and we’re only halfway through. Track four, “Mute Me,” starts off sounding the most abrasive, but about halfway through makes a total 180 in vibes. A somewhat aggressive, buzzing percussive lead is gradually smothered and subdued by dreamy pads. This track is an ethereal journey that will sweep you off your feet. Last is Sublee’s remix of the opening track. A big and bouncy bass line is only the half of it. As heavily delayed and syncopated dub chords go whizzing by, Sublee slips in luscious pads and melodic phrases that capture the essence of the original. As the track comes to a close, the beat is taken out all together, leaving us only an evocative melody to take us home.
