A flurry of electronic punches, elegant and momentous, are delivered by TwO on the Brooklyn-based Jigit label. “Dynamic Human Spirit” channels an energetic flow from start to finish, leaving a trail of funky Dance tracks in its wake.
The worldwide collaboration found in this “Dynamic Human Spirit” release sees mastering from Istanbul and recording from Detroit. Packaged in a familiar two-front, two-back format, TwO’s latest release finds a way to bring forth an evolutionary progression of electronic stylings that move the needle forward.
Bouncing rhythms ingrain itself deep in the foundations of the first offering titled, “Initiation (The Purge Mix)”. Resonating chords echo vibrantly into the void as a sharp bass lassos the formula together in a sophisticated manner. Poised snare shots keep things lively, never undermining the driving force of the melody. TwO continues the melodic journey with the title track. A heavier focus on percussion leads warbling basslines along striking high hats that meld harmonically in unison with full synth patches.
The B-side tracks supply groovy rollers that deposit catchy phrases sure to implant themselves in an unforgettable fashion. “Kinaesthesia (Resurrection Mix)” transposes a slick cadence via a walking bassline that feels warm and comfortable. Guitar strums couple with an Acid-y background, maintaining a light and forward-moving jam. The finishing track, “Revolution”, utilizes amen break and reverberated chorus. It plays out like a quintessential exit to a fulfilling and diverse sonic trip as a melancholic atmosphere sets an esoteric stage full of tribal drum breaks and dissonant pad stabs. The calm comedown suits the release harmoniously and cements the weird and wild journey that TwO has constructed.
