Bangalore brother duo Audio Units bring out a variant and deeply methodical 5-tracker release on Mexico’s ANAØH Records with “The Gateway Experience” featuring fast pulsating takes alongside deeper dub inflections of their signature sounds.
Mexico has created a long history of bringing unique and powerful music to the Techno circuit in the form of artists, labels, and a general culture that adds a special dynamic to the genres that fall into the umbrella term ‘Techno’. With a vibrant bastion of no-holds-barred Techno, including intricate and deeply-moving sequenced releases, Mexico’s underground has left a tangible mark on the international industry. Over the last 7 years, ANAØH Records has not so silently been making an impact on the circuit with releases focused on pure, deeply-inspired Techno.
Founded in 2016 by Fixon (MORD, Illegal Alien) and Dig-it (Illegal Alien, Ableton Live Certified Trainer), the label has grown into a prominent following of artists and audio consumers alike in a short period. Focusing on curating refined and very focus-oriented Techno releases, the label has seen a wide roster of artists spanning a large swath of the global and regional music scene, including Augusto Taito, Deepbass, Urban Groove, and more along with various VA releases and albums featuring the label heads in their natural element.
As time has progressed for the label, one thing has stood the test of time; the music that comes through their channels is consistent in design and taste. Deep, accentuated Techno elements are focused in the stripped down, no fluff takes and artists, while still being forward thinking, are cognizant of the next musical movement without compromising the integrity of the label’s sound and established musical nature. Enter Bangalore, India’s dynamic brother duo, Audio Units, with “The Gateway Experience”.
Since 2011, Audio Units has been on an upward trajectory in their exploration of all things Techno. Originally finding a footing in the early minimal movements, the duo has created a fast-paced audio engineering style coupled with notable roots in Dub, House, and of course, Techno facets. Their debut album on ANAØH Records, tactfully titled “The Gateway Experience” features tracks of heart-pounding Techno with some Dub features. The release spans a wide swath of high bpms and impulse-driven synth work that still curates the peak-time experience ANAØH has been renowned for.
Audio Units lends a credible addition to ANAØH Records already well-established discography and yields a positive forward trajectory both for the label and the duo. Only being a third of the way through the 2023 year, ANAØH Records release schedule looks to be encouraging a well-placed, forward-leaning sound and style to look forward to on a continuous basis.
