Munich-based producer and DJ Polygonia releases a luscious IDM single on Phase.ctv titled “iTiTi” that packs a serious punch.
In case you weren’t able to catch her recent set at Berghain or her HÖR live stream, Munich’s rising star, Polygonia, has just put out a standout single that makes for a great introduction. Finding its home on Madrid’s Phase.ctv, “iTiTi” definitely embodies the eclecticism and raw energy that she’s already known for, so it’s no surprise that Phase-veteran Tuber joins in with a hard-hitting remix for good measure.
“iTiTi” isn‘t just your-run-of-the-mill dance track, instead it’s a refreshing take on the definition of Techno. Glistening static and playful marimba phrases serve as a misnomer for the much more abrasive beat that follows. The happy-go-lucky melody tastefully juxtaposes the weighty bass, forcing the listener to kick back and bask in the serene ambiguity.
Hearing this track for the first time feels like being transported to another world—one in which darkness and light can coalesce, at least on the dance floor. While Polygonia’s track sounds like a light foundation with a hint of dark, Tuber’s remix flips the formula right on its head, doubling down on the big and boisterous Techno kicks while treating the melody like a garnish.
Together, these two tracks form a coherent whole, like yin and yang, resulting in an excellent addition to each producer’s discography. Support the artists and label with a digital download via the Bandcamp page linked above.
