Zisko – “The Illusion of Lust” EP (E-HRZN Records) [April 28, 2023]

Zisko brings 5 select cuts of deep, inspiring Techno to Miami-based E-HRZN Records with “The Illusion of Lust” EP featuring two dynamic, genre-bending remixes by rising talent Decoder and New York’s Jay York.

At the forefront of pushing the boundaries of deeper, forward-thinking Techno, Zisko has been a champion of the sound and style that both have a foot in the pool of Techno and that still create a new variant of the musical aspirations that encompass the genre. Over the years Zisko has created a name for themself that warrants a serious following and interest in the music industry. While only having a few years in the books on releases, this Argentinian artist has already found his way into notable records such as Suara, Mutual Rytm and even Concepto Hypnotico.

In that short tenure however, this newfound talent has established a significant sound and approach that’s curated a significant impact on the spectrum of Techno unparalleled by many. It’s no surprise to see Zisko appearing on underground Miami label and purveyor of all things pure Techno, E-HRZN Records, with his latest “The Illusion of Lust” EP.

While being what some would consider a fledgling label in their own right, with their first releases dating back to 2022, E-HRZN hones in on the deeper, more intrinsically thought-provoking sound designs. As a whole, the imprint puts a heavy focus on pairing emerging artists with more well established talent. Citing their mission as doing everything they can with respect for the music and the scene as a whole, this Miami-based collective has curated an impressive collection of artist releases and features unique, psychedelic and glitch-motivated artwork for their albums curated by Yan Cook which lends to the textures and tonalities that corner this group’s focus on Techno.

With the focus on pairing established talent with up and comers, E-HRZN pairs the release with remixes by two prominent rising artists, Decoder and Jay York.

Decoder has fast been a rising name on the circuit and with good reason. The artist’s all-encompassing styles have garnered attention from notable figures through the releases that have slammed into the foreground. Hypnotic undertones paired with no-nonsense, stripped-down elements evoke respectable nods to the core elements of the genre and music as a whole. As such, Decoder has found themself on tours and lineups with some of the most respected names in the industry and most notably found themselves on Richie Hawtin’s “From Our Minds” 2023 tour.

New York’s Jay York, also a relative newcomer to the release circuit, is featured on remix duties alongside Decoder. While only having a release history dating back to 2020, this pinnacle of the New York underground encompasses all the production qualities you would hope to find in the big city’s Techno network. Unrelenting kick and bass elements with their finger on the pulse of a dancefloor are a mainstay of this artist’s past works on labels such as Heist Mode, trau-ma, and Secession to name a few. Feet firmly planted in the positive qualities that appeal to any Techno connoisseur, this rising star is on a fast track to prominence on their own.
