Veteran Techno aficionado Myles Serge releases Detroit-styled takes coupled with Chicago’s signature Jackin’ swing on “The Set Run Example” for his debut on Midwest imprint, Northern Parallels.
For over 20 years, Myles Serge has been a prolific artist and expressionist in the auditory field. Dubbing himself as a ‘Reclusive Perfectionist’, Myles has created countless timeless classics and become a staple of American Techno styles. With a long tenure releasing on labels such as Sweatshop, Knotweed Records, and Ilian Tape in addition to his own imprints RE(FORM), Space, and Dosed Recordings, Myles has become a global phenomenon of his own.
His artistry has landed him bookings and notoriety at legendary venues like Tresor, Berghain, and Rex Club, including homegrown Intellephunk festival, The Great Beyond. After his appearance at The Great Beyond last year, it’s only fitting that his latest release comes out just days before the gates open to the public at the same event.
“The Set Run Example” features original takes “American Rejekkkt” and “The Redhead” along with two remixes of the the latter by Gabriella Vergilov (Enemy Records, Mistress, Symbolism) and Lee Holman (Solid Groove, Singular). Gabriella’s remix of “The Redhead” features an inspiring blend of Techno and House that has become something of a mainstay in their productions over the years. Well-sequenced percussion and a unique vocal addition create a deeply hypnotic but bouncy texture to the overall tone of the release, while Lee’s remix provides a pulsating, driving dive into sonic qualities.
Myles’ original takes feature more stripped down and pleasantly boisterous qualities that shower the release with a wide swath of musical textures fit for any discerning, curated ear. The release is now available on Bandcamp with a Beatport release date of August 4th.
