Dlta – “Mind Maze” EP (Primitive State Records) [November 3, 2023]

Sao Paulo yields another unrelenting, chest-pounding release via Dlta’s “Mind Maze” EP out on Primitive State Records, including remixes by Anders BR and Andc.

Sao Paulo has been a well-known diamond in the proverbial rough when it comes to Techno and the underground movements in the region. While on the surface, the city is rife with talent and littered with Electronic-focused events, beneath the surface lies a darker, more selective curation of musical artists and labels with a prime focus on the artistry associated with production and selection. One such label has been at the cutting edge of this curation for over 3 years.

Under the direction of Anders and Flavio Togni, Primitive State Records stands as a testament to the reinforcing of the values and stylistic movements of Techno while honing in on continued progression into new developments and the future of the music overall. In its short tenure, the label has amassed an impressive back catalog of artists and releases alike. While the entire list of releases lends itself to the stunning capacity of the imprint to locate and showcase versatile talent in their respective fields and sound styles, one that stands out is a frequent releasing name on the label who goes by the name, Dlta.

Where DLTA has a minimalistic impact in an online setting, the artist makes up for this exponentially in their powerhouse releases that showcase not only a well-formatted ear for the music, but an almost prolific understanding of musical production as well. From Sao Paulo themselves, Dlta embodies much of what one would come to desire and respect out of the region’s nightlife and musical circuit, and this is especially true of their latest “Mind Maze” EP release.

The album shows off-time bass and other percussion instruments used that take the ears on a wild dance down the line of mentally stimulating auditory waves. In addition to two selections from Dlta, the label boss Anders brings a deep and almost subterranean style to the release with their remix of the title track alongside Andc, who delivers a heart-pounding, glitched-out choreographic remix of “ōvərˈrīdiNG”.

The release is currently available for presale and is a seemingly perfect fit for any artist with a curated ear for the deeper and more unique takes on Techno as a whole.
