Leave the chaos of the world behind and take a spin on the dancefloor with iconic fan-favorites Narciss and DJ Heartstring. The hottest collab in Dance Music, Polydor Records latest release “Why Can’t We Live Forever?” delivers a ‘dear diary’ of playful grooves brooding in romanticism.
It’s not very often that an artist comes into the spotlight and completely changes the musical landscape, and yet, there is not only one artist breaking the mold here, but two. Applauded for their originality, humble nature, and impeccable musical tastes, both Narciss and DJ Heartstring have sent the masses ablaze with their authentic and inclusive take on modern sound.
Two of the fastest rising names at the moment, Berlin-based DJs and producers Narciss and DJ Heartstring pair up for their second collaboration after their hit track “Juicy” from 2021’s “Seductive Edits Vol.1” With a scorching hot summer of sold-out shows and killer productions in the books, both the Heartstring duo and Narciss have found themselves at the tip of everyone’s lips. DJ Heartstring just recently held their Boiler Room debut, with fans citing them as “capturing the sound of the younger generation”. Pair that with Narciss, who held their BR debut in 2022, and whom fans exclaim has ‘the vibe and energy we need at every event,’ and say the 20 years before Narciss emerged were ‘boring’, and there is basically no way to not light up the dancefloor.
Shaking off all the haters with extremely well-received releases featuring sweet pop-satiated samples and also never taking themselves too seriously, their high-energy, bouncy, and visceral sound is just what the doctor ordered. Whether you want to call it modern Trance, Euro Dance, or Trance Dance music, the sum of it all is the same—positive energy bangers with heartfelt emotion. What this lot has perfected is bringing blissful euphoria to the masses while seamlessly weaving in nostalgia and a bit of melancholy at the same time, creating some of the most sincere and interesting Dance Music out there today. Their latest collaboration “Why Can’t We Live Forever” forces you to open your heart, no matter how well concealed, and begs you to feel again.
Already deemed one of the juiciest tracks of the summer, “Heartbreak Repair System” is instantaneously catchy. The earnest lyricism and reminiscent piano chords naturally make you feel like you’ve been here before. The comfort built inside this track feels like a big hug. Melding broken hearts and giving a groove that will keep you moving, it is an addictively warm and euphoric track. “While U Sleep”’ pays a nod to DJ Heartstrings’ numerous hip-hop productions and perhaps Narciss’ love of hip-hop as well, with sassy rapping lyrics laid atop a smooth groove with an incessant beat.
Next on deck, “East Bridge Romance” kicks right off with strong vocals straight into a synth-laden groove. The double arpeggio build adds a dramatic emotional element. A salty sweet sentimentality grabs your attention, and the layered rhythm begs for dancing feet to get moving.The title track is the understandably most contemplative track of the bunch. Pooling emotions and giving feelings to the question. You can feel the somberness, like the last track of the night playing at your favorite event; you know it’s time to go, and while you are sad to leave, you are also elated that you’ve been there and had all of the fun you’ve had. It is a perfect closing to the record, leaving with a silver-lining on the cloud of the ending.
Effortlessly reminding us why we come to dance in the first place, grab your best mate, give ‘em a hug, and lose yourself in the rhythm of this feel-good album. 10 years from now we may remember this specific time in dance music as a time where we all came together, regardless of status or genre. “Why Can’t We Live Forever’ is the perfect representation of this much needed energy shift.
