VA – “RITUALØ8” (OMEN Recordings) [March 1, 2024]

The first track of RITUALØ8 is “Ixodidae” from Lisbon-based artist, Peix. This smooth and semi-hypnotic track contains some seriously interesting industrial textures and metallic percussions, making this 145 bpm track an ideal selection for any Hard Techno DJ looking to pull the crowd into the “deep”.

The second track comes from Ukrainian-based artist, Stanislav Tolkachev. It is one of Omen Recordings label boss Axkan’s favorite tracks on this release, and after taking a listen to this stylish and experimental track with interesting modular sequences, I understand why. Coming in at 135 bpm, this track will surely find itself in the playlists of a number of hypnotic and industrial (hard) techno DJs.

Track number 3, titled “Plasmix,” comes from the Italian Techno artist known as DIB. A 140 bpm hypnotic masterpiece with unique and calming textures, the track offers a perfect combination of contrasting modular tones for transitioning into the harder and more driving tracks that follow in this VA compilation.

The next number, titled “Prime Attrition,” is a driving and hard industrial track from LA’s very own Demek. This 145 bpm track combines unique and contrasting industrial textures and tones with the intricate percussion and driving kicks that Demek has become known for in his recent productions.

The fifth track in the RITUALØ8 VA, titled “A Fine Way To Die” by Hungarian Hard Techno duo MØRTE, is a quintessential 145-bpm, industrial and hard techno banger.

They (MØRTE) sent me this very dark track. This one is a little more “techno” and it’s really well done and really well made. It’s what I look for in my demos—that they sound good. Not just, you know, in the melodic sense, but their production sense as well.” –Axkan

The final track, “Persephone’s Breath,” comes from Vertex Form, a female Industrial/Hard Techno artist out of North Carolina. Vertex Form’s contribution to RITUALØ8 is an experimental-sounding, Breakbeat-meets-Hard Techno track with beautifully contrasting industrial tones and textures that evolve throughout the entire track.
