Mamwadi – “Collaborations Vol. 2” (Point Nemo) [August 15, 2024]

Point Nemo, a rising star in the Stockholm techno conflux, has taken the greater global eye by storm since their debut release in 2019. With the label’s focus on hard-edged and gritty musical innovation coupled with the classic true-to-the-core techno, the imprint has quickly created a dedicated following. This legacy continues with the August 15th release of “Collaborations Vol 2.”

The release focuses on a versatile collection of collaborative cuts between label mainstay Mamwadi and 12 different producers from varying backgrounds within the techno circuit. On their own, Mamwadi is notorious for fast paced, in-your-face interests behind the decks and in the studio. Coupling this approach with a purist sound design, Mamwadi has become something of a renowned artist in the underground circuits and communities.

With this background, it’s not all too surprising to see them matching with artists such as Dog on Acid (Radiance Records), another Swedish underground savant who has been quickly finding a place in the greater music industry, for this release. Additionally, we see Mamwadi matching with another Point Nemo regular Siber for several tracks.

The overall pace and style behind this whole release truly encapsulates a sound and style fit for any techno puritan or casual listener alike. Minimalistic but deeply technical in design, the release truly covers enough ground that it poses more of a challenge to not find something to catch the listener’s ear.
