Deep, maliciously introspective, and tumultuously catchy. LA’s Conundrum Records returns with “Subterranean” EP for an action packed release from Amsterdam legend, Hitam, who delivers four tactful and tastefully dark originals alongside a stunning remix from one of Techno’s long standing underground heroes, Rene Wise.
Conundrum Records, while relatively new on the global market as an imprint, has hit a fast track to success since its launch, by and large to the label’s focus on true-to-the-core deep, dark, and mysterious concoctions of Techno.
While only having a handful of online releases, Conundrum boasts a roster of artists and remixers worth their weight in music gold. From artists such as Stephen Disario to Jay York, the label has an inarguable strangle hold on a quality of Techno and the underground sounds that shake the foundations of what one would consider a status quo.
With this newest release, Conundrum once again shows the unwavering commitment to no-holds-barred, no-filler music. Hitam delivers a dose of unrelenting, deep, and melancholic environments and soundscapes with no punches pulled.
As if the release didn’t already hold enough sway with the originals, a lone remix by one of Techno’s purveyors of the deep and hypnotic brings their signature tribal and resonant styles to the table. Rene Wise holds nothing back with their remix of ‘Kaelago’ and delivers a fast-paced, dangerously swirling take on an already intriguingly notable track.
Overall, the release holds many gems to be discovered by their respective listeners. Deeply technical, intrinsically catchy, aggressive in all the best ways. “Subterranean” EP promises to check all the boxes you are looking for.
