The Swedish maestro returns to his own Studio Barnhus label with four deep, acid-tinged cuts.
Axel Boman’s latest EP, Space Drag, showcases his signature blend of Deep House with a contemplative, slow-moving energy. The EP features four tracks: “Space Drag,” “Acid Left and Right,” “Forever Latino,” and “Ohh Baby.”
Boman’s music is known for creating immersive atmospheres, and this project is no exception, drawing inspiration from the serene Eterna Primavera mountains in Colombia, where Boman spent time during its creation.
The title track, “Space Drag,” anchors the EP with its dreamy, almost hypnotic quality, reflecting the relaxed pace that Boman has set for this release. Space Drag leans toward a more introspective and mellow experience, evoking the tranquility of nature. “Acid Left and Right” adds an experimental flair, incorporating Acid House influences into its production while maintaining a laid-back tempo.
“Forever Latino” brings in a warm, Latin-inspired groove, adding rhythmic diversity to the EP. This track demonstrates Boman’s ability to fuse different cultural influences into his work, offering a smooth, danceable beat that contrasts with the EP’s generally slower pace.
Closing out the project is “Ohh Baby,” a tender track that feels intimate and emotional, a softer end to a contemplative musical journey. Soft keys, lush pads and a smooth groove with a hypnotic vocal makes for a solid end to the EP.
Space Drag showcases Boman’s expertise as a producer with atmospheric and global influences. It reflects his ability to create not just tracks but fully formed musical landscapes, making this EP a sonic escape that is sure to keep the ears perked up.
