Primed to make you move, Ben Pest unleashes five dancefloor weapons with “Worst Behavior” on Glasgow-based label, Posh End Music.
Celebrating their 10th release with the incredibly talented Ben Pest, the EP drops on November 15th and has also been pressed onto pink vinyl. Known for hardware-based live performances and jackin’ techno, Bristol-based Ben Pest produces some of the best basslines, and this EP is further proof of that.
Starting the party off is “Strict Saw VIP” with squelching acid and funky breaks between high running rhythms. Any dancefloor is popping off when this comes on. Full of swagger, “Beta T” keeps it low and tight, grooving at a steady pace while simultaneously building momentum in the background.
Taking things to a more heady space, “Withoutta Moat” comes in trippy and full of dub before laying down thick electro vibes. Turning up the electro synths and acid rollers, “1996” is a rave anthem, no doubt. Closing out this excellent EP is “Weight For It (Edit)” blowing fuses and minds alike with sick, nasty beats.
Covering the gamut of techno, breaks, acid, and electro, Ben Pest shows off his music prowess with pleasure. His unique style of granular distortion is also present throughout, and we love to hear it.
Kudos to the Posh End honcho, Fear-E, for selecting Ben Pest to herald the label’s tenth record release. “Worst Behavior” EP is thick with proper grooves; straight dance floor fuel on this one.
