Clotur – “Echoes and Reflections” (TRUNCATE) [December 27, 2024]

Akram Amous, born in Tunisia and based in France, is one of those talents who is both solid and rich in sound. His music quickly captivates the listeners and consistently delivers on the dancefloor. It’s technological and refined, with a unique take on techno that offers the audience fresh and quality tracks.

After standout releases on Counterchange Recordings and more recently on KSR (Kaiser’s label), Clotur delivers four powerful, modern, and effective tracks in this latest release—perfect for those who seek both to play and listen to high-quality techno.

Very well-designed and straightforward, as is often the case with Truncate’s label, this release showcases an interesting evolution of Akram’s musical expression. There’s a subtle, punchy house influence in the low kicks and drums, which adds both lightness and weight, especially in ‘Chords of Reflection.’ Additionally, the wild dance of the synthesizers brings an exciting energy, with sounds coming and going and connecting in unexpected ways, particularly in ‘Echoes of the Tribe’.

The way the loops evolve over time brings unexpected elements to the forefront, as well as vocals, metallic fractured forms, scratches, noises, and dimensional, volumetric textures, all in one single track. This is especially noticeable in ‘Arkala,’ where these elements emerge subtly yet powerfully.

As expected, ‘Land of Mu’ feels like a classic, staying true to Clotur’s natural sound while nodding to Truncate’s direction and the label’s mission to deliver proper, high-energy techno tracks.

As one of the owners of Warok, Clotur is deeply connected with a wide range of artists and music, giving him a unique perspective and solid vision while his expertise in creating music.
