Klint returns to his own KOWBOI imprint with a dark, grooving “Amorce” EP full of taste and class, proving he’s among the leading figures of the Parisian techno scene.
Every release lately from Klint hasn’t missed, and the KOWBOI label, while currently only showcasing Klint’s work, is on par as far as curation goes with other leading labels such as SK-eleven and WSWNG. The overall vibe of this “Amorce” EP release has an open mix, allowing for the atmospheres and the elements to swing freely.
Special attention has been placed on the clarity, so the atmospheres show through. Or in the cymbals that hint at an atmosphere, such as in the early parts of “Who’s Guilty” and “The Target”… There’s also a genuine interest in providing a well-developed sound bed with mind-bending atmospherics and sweeps in the tracks “Amorce” and “Revolver.”
Additionally, as mentioned, this EP provides a great place for dynamic pumping drums to break through and groove. “Amorce” takes this concept to a masterful degree, as does “The Target,” with tight bass versus kick groove and disco hits.
“Six Shots” ties up the release with a great summary of what the EP is about conceptually. Strong atmospheres, transparent reverb practices, well-thought-out tight grooves, and warped hits swept around the mix for your mind to ponder.
Altogether, an impressive and crisply defined representation of modern techno at its finest. Props for the consistent quality from Klint on these releases off KOWBOI.
We can’t wait for the next one.
