Colombian techno champion and Restrictions label head Vannesa Gnz releases a pair of driving, groove-based tracks perfect for pinning down the backbone of any techno set.
Though the Restrictions label has been championing the Latin American scene since 2017, it’s been with breakout releases on GND and Mind Medizin that Vannesa Gnz has found a reach far beyond the southern hemisphere. And not only because of resourceful collaboration, but because Vannesa’s tracks get to the point. This is just straightforward, no-BS techno that’s ready to be mixed, has a solid understanding of groove, and makes the dancefloor move.
On this two-tracker release, “Timeless Flow” and “Endless Motion” both unfold exactly as they’re described. Something new here though, that deviates from her previous catalog, is a bit more tension and energy blasted forward in a tightly bundled-up package that is direct and pulls no punches. There’s no flashy effects, no overwhelmingly heady conceptual ideas… just a pair of tracks that’re the backbone foundation of any techno set.
The standout of the pair is “Endless Motion,” where the filtering is held back just a little bit to play with expectation and release. Everything is just locked in and functioning like a well-oiled machine.
We love techno that’s a straight attempt at turning your head into pudding. Thankfully, there’s artists like Vannesa Gnz ready to provide strength and resilience to any DJ set. You really need a slamming groove and a hot drum track to tie it all together. And Vannesa is here to provide.
