Omen Records makes justice to its name by becoming a go to reference for dark techno. UK artist Skoden debuts with an EP which will hang visibly on the Californian label wall. Three cuts and two remixes, one done by no other than label owner AXKAN, convince us that sometimes hearing is believing. Special mention goes to “Distorted Sensation” which is pitch black power at best. The solid kick makes your heart pump fast and fills the body with force. Subsequent sweeping effects turn on and pierce through air, body, and soul. Intermissions give time to exhale and then we are back in the production line for more tension and sweat. Another beauty, “Round the Chamber” starts off with lurking percussions, hissing around, and distorted whips that lash out. Then at midtrack, there is a reload for a shock discharge – underground experience assured. AXKAN tops the collection off with his own particular vision, including intricated motives of equal quality. Skoden proves creativity can come from the dark and he does so by presenting well constructed tenebrous atmospheres with pure beast techno energy for those moments when you do not want to see, just hear.
