Fresh and full-on techno grooves make their way on the scene in the latest EP from Phase Øbjekt.
Individually the tracks stand out in their own right, but when combined, a new force is created. The release never stagnates as it drives towards its final sonic destination. Balance is achieved through introspective and raw emotion. Structured in thoughtful progression, “Exoplanets” successfully integrates complex ideas seamlessly.
A marriage of mechanical and extra-terrestrial rhythm blends the release into a complete package. Creative tension, especially in the first track, “Proxima Centuri,” sets an expectation for what is to come: A Sci-fi journey unravelling as pad arpeggios bring life to cleverly placed percussion. Hypnotic acid enters the mix amplifying the energy even further. Pleasant and thought-provoking breakdowns allow for breathing room before upping the ante once more. It’s almost certain these tracks would/will be rinsed on the dancefloor when the time comes. Depth is woven throughout the EP with unique instrument selection. No preset loops or templates to be found. It’s clear the composition was well fleshed out with emphasis on crafted sounds.
From start to finish, expect to be transported on a pleasure trip. Ultimately Exoplanets is a vast landscape that sticks to what works. Futuristic flare turns the release into a worthy expedition for any set of headphones or system.
