Taking it all the way back to simpler times, Taho’s two track EP on MB Elektronics comes correct with a melodic barrage of electronica.
Bringing out all the hardware to create feel good tunes, balancing depth and groove. Representing electronic hot-spot Tbilisi, Taho instills a plethora of emotions with his latest release “Soulstice”. No stranger to established labels including Ovum and Delsin, Taho effortlessly puts forth winning material, this time on the Belgian, MB Elektronics. Sampling from a mid 2000’s sound bank while implementing modern technology, the EP oozes musicality. A refreshing clash of progressively driven storytelling and four to the floor flavor spawn an energetic dance offering.
The Soulstice occurs when either of our Earth’s poles achieves maximum tilt toward the sun. A combination of vibrations and sonic waves conjoin, birthing the title track “Soulstice”. Cleverly crafted elements join forces summoning a beautiful collaboration of new-age funk. Bubbly guitar-esque tones form significant structure before grumbling low end melds together harmoniously. Gracious, percussive, rhythm adds a broken beat, bringing the three patterns to a complete unity. Unique in their own way, the stems flow naturally by each other’s side until a chord wave propels the process onto new heights. With reverb and subtle breakdown, the tune draws to a cheerful finish, abruptly transitioning to its counterpart, “Solaris”.
Soft toms invite a soft, dominant launch coupled with crackling cymbals. Claps in cadence lend themselves eagerly, alongside a resonant tenor groove, making way for signature hi-hats. Repeated whiny synth entwines its squawk deep into the melodious pathway. Energy of the past incorporates with current trend resulting in a happy go lucky stance on dance music. The sum of the intricate designs showcased in this production shape an efficient and admirable pulse that is achieved only by love for the craft. “Soulstice” embodies a whimsical dream state while keeping the underground flair at the forefront. Evolved craftsmanship, like that showcased in this EP, will help secure new ears to mold.
