Fresh electronica from the mysterious Existential wabbit, “lateral view EP” is packed with intricate instrumental work and intelligent composition. With “lateral view, the Romanian producer dives into the deeper side of hypnotic and leftfield stylings that he’s known for.
Dark and dreamy across the board, Wabbit composes some serious tunes to chew on with the five-track release. The patterns found within are complex and sinister, with extremely low frequencies and razor-sharp sound effects laced throughout. The science fiction-esque ambience brings Ridley Scotts Alien to mind.
Tracks like “Manifestation” and “Inverse” are otherworldly in their design and bring a plethora of techniques to the table. “Acid cluj” brings–you guessed it–acid to the party with its dissonant harmonies and belching, liquid, onslaught. The album is certainly a passion project, and you can really feel the artist’s expression in tracks like “89” where the listener is invited on an introspective journey. “89” switches up at the four-minute mark with a long delay and comes back in the picture with a metallic sounding outro that is reminiscent of a Gorillaz jam.
Lateral view is a love letter to the esoteric underground of electronica. It’s sultry and slick, bringing the right formula for an outstanding piece of art.
