Dax J – “Soul Enforcer” LP (Monnom Black) [March 16, 2022]

Precise and groovy with meaningful foundation is what you can expect from techno don, Dax J, and his latest release, “Soul Enforcer” LP. The nineteen track journey is filled to the brim with funky rhythms and chunky techno bangers. This release, like all sales from Monnom Black this month, will donate all proceedings to the Red Cross in support of Ukraine.

Dax has been on top of the techno mountain for years and showing no signs of slowing down. One of the most consistent forces in electronic music today, the London artist has carved a blazing path as both DJ and producer. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, underlying tones, and professionalism displayed in “Soul Enforcer” LP are truly astounding.

The style never seems to end during the LP’s glorious ride, with a plethora of techniques and genres seemingly switching up every tune. Haunting strings in “Troubles With Tina (unfiltered mix)” mix with bubbly bass slaps, making for an almost Depeche Mode-like ensemble. Dominating warehouse vibes can be found in “The Final Wavescape” with its pulsating kicks and stretched waves of sonic bliss. “Deepest Border Lines” welcomes an acidic onslaught combined with echoing chordal strikes.

Indulgent stories are told between the lines on “Skyline at Night” swaying on the ambient spectrum. Reverberated, dubby energy is featured on “Demised (chill mix)” to convey sinister darkness with beautiful class.

One could go on and on regarding just how deep the release goes. A heartfelt final track titled “Fin (live take edit mix)” rounds out the LP with pure talent and introspection, giving us one last taste of acid bliss.

Bravo and kudos to Dax J for not only supporting the crisis in Ukraine, but for pole vaulting over the bar with a passionate release that certainly stands among the best of this year already.
