Argentina’s brand new Techno label, RI7MO, brings on Pakard for a powerful third release with “Radio Shock”.
Argentinian producer Pakard hasn’t been releasing music for very long, yet he has already whipped up some standout tracks. His latest EP, titled “Radio Shock,” is a testament to the hard work he’s been putting in. The RI7MO label has so far highlighted just a handful of Argentina’s newly emerging talent, but with Pakard’s latest contribution at play, it is safe to assume they’ll be attracting many more great tunes from the region and beyond in due time.
The opening track, “Formless Dance,” grabs your attention from the jump. A peculiar vocal loop simmers, while a pounding kick gives you an idea of what’s to come. What starts off sounding light and uplifting quickly takes a turn towards danger. Though somewhat stripped back and sparse, the track contains all the bells and whistles of a great dance track, and in some cases, quite literally. Track two of the EP is much busier and even more impactful. The title track, “Radio Shock,” incorporates a nostalgic House vocal and a groovy, Latin-inspired conga loop that’s periodically chopped up and washed out with a massive reverb and delay. Sporadic drum fills add bursts of energy that help make this tune a highly effective dancefloor weapon. Next, “Several,” dives deeper into the realm of Hypnotic Techno while maintaining instances of subtle Latin charm. Glistening like a firework, the melodic lead of this track steals the show. Lastly, an exceptional remix by fellow Argentinean producer Lucas Sosa (AR) ends the “Radio Shock” EP. For this remix, Sosa orients the track around two repeating, descending tones that are oh so satisfying, and irresistibly groovy. Occasional bleep-like noises help to maintain a Techno aesthetic, however the track feels a bit more reminiscent of House.
