Jonas Kopp continues his Collaborations series with Staffan Linzatti off his Buenos Aires-based TREMSIX label sharing a few tricks and continuing to introduce talented producers currently on the rise with “CO.LAB 009”.
The best way to view the release is to have a good sense of Linzatti’s style and personality within his music and see how it compares and contrasts with Jonas Kopp’s style. If you’re already familiar with Jonas Kopp’s music, as undoubtedly most of you are, it’s probably easy to pick out his contribution to the collaboration. Staffan Linzatti’s style features a very linear approach that is a perfect contrast to Kopp’s funkier and deeper aesthetics. Something to that effect definitely can be heard off of track A.
If you’re going into this thinking you know the whole story by now in the release, then track B really throws you for a loop with something very beautiful and certainly less linear but no less hypnotic. Track C brings us back to the main idea of the collaboration, but it’s still somewhat difficult to find whose idea was whose. Similarly, on tracks D, E, and F, we hear a star-filled twinkling and hypnotic theme with funky elements. Track E emphasizes the groove and F takes a darker turn.
“CO.LAB 009” is a really great showcase of both artists’ talent here. It is definitely worth having a look at the other CO.LAB series artists, as you’ll get to know some very strong players within the Techno sphere and widen your collection significantly. Richard Garduno, DJ Sodeyama, and Oliver Rosemann are just a few strong examples of this.
