Notausgang “The Lockdown Sessions” (Phormix) [released 1/20/21]

To start the year fresh, Notausgang has dropped some nice tracks with self-explanatory titles to warm up our dance appetite.

Released under referential label Phormix, this album is going to be one of our favorite choices to cut some rug to this month. Well crafted industrial techno with touches of ambient riffs are well exemplified in the opener “Behave Yourself;” where deep voices over strong industrial kicks and percussion blend with ethereal synths creating a perfect fit for the dance floor. The track gains momentum as voices and synth diversify over consistent drum sequences with a firmly modern feel. The long wavy sideral synths make this track end up an industrial dance euphoria. Equally engaging is the bassline and drum in the second track “Educate Your People.” Automatic pounding with solid sequences results in very energetic sound that draws you straight to the underground. Elevating synths conferring aura together with a complex combination of klanking and tapping continue through the entire collection leaving a lasting impression. Your brain cells recall Nitzer Ebb-esque drum sequences alike to “Construction Time Again,” Depeche Mode’s Cult classic. Beats masterly revitalized with top-tier production. As heard on “Restricted in Movement,” industrial lines suddenly drop and a more electro open field line appears over shuffling percussion, resulting in an up-to-date fresh recipe for hitting the dancefloor.

Sure Notausgang pays tribute, but he also has a clear forward thinking vision, willing to make you aware of it with this brilliant collection.
