Dustin Zahn – “The Shock Doctrine” (Enemy Records) [Released 1/29/21]

Deriving from Berlin, Germany after spending his earlier years in the Minneapolis underground, Dustin has become a master at his craft. Playing the world’s biggest clubs to some of its dirtiest warehouses, producing, remixing, and being the man behind his Enemy Records. Dustin’s twenty-five plus years of hard work has spawned him into one of the world’s techno elite. This is showcased on his latest four track release “The Shock Doctrine”, an appropriate title for an appropriate time.

With an extra smudge of darkness, this EP is steady, driven, and unique with layers of some peculiar sounds. Beginning with the smear of trance on “Semantic Drift” through to the darkness of the heavy, smooth, driving bass of “Everything Went Black”, this makes for an EP of healthy, thick layered techno harmonies. Bringing the sounds of Berlin with a speckle of flavor from the Midwest underground “The Shock Doctrine” is another extraordinary release from the man himself Dustin Zahn.
