U.K. madman Mark Broom puts forth 8 fast-paced quick-hitters for Radio Slave’s RSPX sub-label of Rekkids. All tracks exceed 140 bpm and expire around the 3 minute mark, catering the fresh ammunition to agile mixers.
Appropriately titled “Mutated Battle Breaks”, Broom sets out to conquer the high-energy techno dance floors in 2021. Side A gems like “Physical” and “Inherit” show off his expert modular synth sound design and shine through the mixdowns administering reflection over the relentless backbeats.
Side B boosts the levity with fun tracks such as “Changing” and “Mutate”, including sounds like referee whistles and bouncy percussion to keep the mood light and high-spirited. If you close your eyes you can instantly imagine a crowd in front of a pair of decks going wild around a dance troupe.
