Kai Loo, bio
Kai Loo is a recent transplant to Los Angeles from Cleveland, Ohio. After attending his first rave in 2008 at age 18, he traded in the instruments he learned growing up for turntables and DAWs. Kai has spent the past 10+ years focused on building his skills and expressing himself as a DJ, Producer, and Live Performer.
Producing under several monikers over the years, he currently uses his real name, Kai Loo, for house music productions and DJ bookings and goes by his alter-ego, Lewper, for techno productions and live hardware performances. Having performed all across North America, his house productions have been featured on international labels such as Purveyor Underground and Jacked Out Trax.
Beginning his electronic music life by traveling to shows in Pittsburgh, NYC, Baltimore, and DC, Kai quickly gathered enough quality outside influences and like-minded friends to help him begin throwing his own warehouse parties in Cleveland. This quickly grew to statewide and regional collaborations, leading him to the music scenes of Detroit, Chicago, the Southwest, and of course, the West Coast. Falling in love with Phoenix after a few visits, Kai packed up his things in 2014 to experience something different from the Midwest and East Coast places he had called home for his entire life.
In July of 2021, Kai landed in Los Angeles —a place he always desired to live and experience — where he quickly found a natural fit with the Dirty Epic crew. He has founded and/or joined an event production company each time he’s settled into somewhere new, offering his assistance in as many ways as he could to help push forward the techno and house scenes. Along with helping organize, promote, and throw events, he has consistently helped establish and grow online communities…and as of 2020, began writing album reviews for LA’s Dirty Epic blog.
Writing for Dirty Epic has given Kai a new outlet for sharing the music he cares so much about and has brought him closer to the artists that he looks up to. All the while, he has been sharpening his record searching and listening skills required as a DJ/Producer.
