Colin Cook – Music Reviewer Bio

Now hailing from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Colin Cook’s Midwest roots took hold after moving from the Southwest, where he was influenced by punk, hardcore, and metal until inevitably, after going to a few underground parties, Techno peaked his interest.

Not having the burden of trying to share a singular goal with other members of a group or band is one of the main reasons Colin Cook fell in love with spinning Techno. Being celebrated for your individuality and unique sound provided the motivation to continue honing his craft.

Playing on massive sound systems has been one of Cook’s greatest joys since shifting from the rock to dance music world. Some of his biggest influences include Rebekah and Swarm Intelligence, so it should come as no surprise that he’s opened for heavy hitters such as Black Asteroid and Drunken Kong.

After migrating to the Midwest to set up shop in Iowa, Cook joined the blossoming IowaTechno crew. Currently, they’re looking to get their SOLO shows up and running, which feature a singular DJ for the entire evening.

2022 was a bit of a slower year for the 33-year-old tastemaker, but having already travelled to Kansas City alongside the IowaTechno crew, 2023 seems to be shaping up quite nicely.
