Berlin-based audio engineering wizard Hannes Bieger has had a busy last couple years, releasing a slew of EPs and masterclass tutorial videos, mixing for high profile clients, and now taking his live performances and masterclasses on the road with his first American tour. His latest musical offering marks his return on Nick Muir and John Digweed’s progressive powerhouse Bedrock Records.

“Droids” opens the release and shows off Hannes’ progression as a solo artist, further cultivating and refining his signature sound of melodic techno heavily influenced by Moog synthesizers. Clocking in at over nine minutes, the deep and emotional arrangement is regularly kicked into the next level by the vocoded “These are the droids you’re looking for” speech. The track attentively builds and progresses, adding new levels of depth each passing measure with help from a variety of beautiful analog synth phrases ranging from arpeggios to acid squelches.
The B-side “Black Tourmaline” is another trance-inducing epic brought forth by the German’s organic nature of turning his studio room of synthesizers into a world of endless possibilities and wonder. Heavenly chords and strings come in to strike at just the right moments, giving off feelings of pure ecstasy in the midst of the dreamy percussion-filled groove that keeps you moving from start to finish. With another lengthy duration, Bieger creates an enduring release sure to stick with you for a long time to come.
