Uncertain’s latest offering, “Praise” EP, is a testament to the producer’s mastery of crafting hypnotic grooves and dynamic energy within the realms of techno and house.
Released on the ever-reliable techno offshoot of REKIDS Records, RSPX, “Praise” EP captures the essence of peak-time energy while leaving room for deep, introspective moments.
The first track, “Ecstasy,” sets the tone with its relentless rhythm and soulful vocal sample that feels like an anthem for the dancefloor. Its sharp percussion and deep, rolling bassline create an infectious groove that teeters between uplifting and menacing. The production is polished yet raw, perfectly embodying the spirit of underground dance music.
Meanwhile, “Supreme” introduces a darker, more stripped-back aesthetic compared to the title track. The groove is relentless, with punchy kicks and a haunting synth line that loops hypnotically. Subtle atmospheric elements weave in and out, creating a sense of depth and tension. This track feels like it’s built for the deeper moments of a set, where the focus shifts to maintaining intensity while pulling the listener into a trance-like state.
“Feel” is an adventurous ride through rhythmically intricate percussion and a playful yet commanding bassline. The track lives up to its name with a tribal, organic energy that transports the listener to an otherworldly sonic landscape. Uncertain’s use of space and reverb here really stands out, allowing each element to breathe while maintaining a driving momentum. It’s a perfect bridge track for DJs, keeping the energy alive while offering something distinct and textural.
The final track, “Pain,” closes the EP with a bang, serving as the most aggressive and raw cut of the collection. A distorted bassline and sharp, metallic hi-hats dominate the soundscape, with dissonant synth stabs adding an edge of unpredictability. The track’s title is fitting—there’s a defiant, almost chaotic energy here, making it a peak-time weapon for underground techno sets.
This is Uncertain at their most primal and energetic… rounding out the EP with a powerful statement and certainly demonstrating an impeccable ability to balance raw energy with a refined production aesthetic. The “Praise” EP is a versatile tool for DJs, offering tracks that could easily transition from warm-up vibes to peak-hour madness. The sonic layers and attention to detail showcase why Uncertain remains a notable figure in the electronic music scene.
