Ring in the New Year with some of our favorite releases from 2024.
We hope you enjoy them as much as we have!
Fadi Mohem – “MOHEM 03” (MOHEM)
Fadi Mohem continues his excellent stretch of self-released EPs on his eponymous imprint, MOHEM. The third installment to his trifecta features another club-ready Dub Techno cut on the A side with “Process”, while Fadi dives deeper into dubby abyss on the B side with “Recess.”

ANNĒ – “Moon Lander” EP (Soma)
Greece’s fastest-rising talent, ANNĒ carves her weight in marble with a texturally saturated body mover that will leave you drunk on delight. Steadily forging a clear path, ANNĒ is etching her sound in a way that can never be erased.

Stef Mendesidis – “Decima” (Klockworks)
In times where higher BPM’s rule the charts, it is exciting to hear something essentially fast but with that much-needed danceability. And of course, Klockworks continues to prevail with its exceptional, euphoric Techno.

Alexander Johansson & Mattias Fridell – “Smygtittaren” (Lømsk)
The creative freedom afforded to Alexander Johansson and Mattias Fridell by releasing on their own Lømsk has been noted by Blueprint and Truncate, but you get the feeling they are holding back on their most original and greatest musical ideas for their own imprint. If this is a sneak peek at things to come, it’s going to come on strong and heavy.

Yan Cook – “Liminal Space” (Delsin)
Coming correct with a more rugged sound is Yan Cook’s offering in Delsin’s Inertia series with his “Liminal Space” EP. What’s even better, Yan Cook is far from done with these explorations, and it feels like there’s no limit to how far he can go.

Exos – “Green Light” (Tresor)
After 27 years of producing techno of all sorts, there’s a freedom that is expressed here that’s wholly liberating. And while there’s a reverent grace within which it’s presented, it’s an expression of love for the music and a release filled with joy for the art of making techno.

VIL – “Birds of Prey” (dolly)
Known for his intricate, layered sound design and ability to blend atmospheric elements with pulsing rhythms, the Portuguese producer/DJ brings a refreshing depth to the genre. This 8-track EP feels like an audio exploration of vast, open spaces, driven by hypnotic beats and lush textures.

UFO95 -“A Brutalist Dystopian Society” (MORD)
UFO95 releases a full-length album on MORD with a distinguished dark and grooving sound that proves to be one of the best techno albums this year. “A Brutalist Dystopian Society” hits the nail on the head with its sense of grim apprehension and is certainly a reflection of our time.

Rene Wise – “Moving Pressure 02” (Moving Pressure)
Rene Wise marks the second self-release for his own recently launched record label, Moving Pressure. It’s evident that this venture provides him with a greater sense of freedom, allowing the artist to refine and express his vision more authentically.

Lars Huismann – “Mechanized” EP (Monnom Black)
Lars Huismann makes the jump from his streak of successes on Mutual Rytm to Dax J’s Monnom Black imprint with a mini album full of Tribal Techno-focused stormers. Where he takes these ideas is anyone’s guess, but in the meantime, we’re over here tearing up the dance floor.
