UK techno don Alan Fitzpatrick turns out 4 heavyweight dance floor tracks for Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint. With sounds throughout the EP ranging from auspicious and uplifting to dark and twisted, Fitzpatrick keeps your head bobbing every moment of the journey.
The first half of the record takes you into optimistic territory starting with “Everlasting” and “Titan Silence”. Both tracks sport euphoric sunrise vibes perfect for after-hours. “Titan Silence” especially caters to this ethos with its dubbed out stabs and transcendent pads that voyage you as far from reality as your mind will follow, while its hefty kick drum allows grounding to any size stage setup.
Side B shows the darker side of the UK producer with the haunting energies of “Droid Disco” and “The Underdog”. Modular bleep sequences drive both tracks into hypnotic habitats that provide an aura of darkness and mystery akin to a grimy Detroit warehouse. “Droid Disco” goes full catatonic with dubby drums and crawling, anxiety-inducing synth patterns while “The Underdog” thrashes its drum sounds and ascends a plethora of terrifying tones to pin down the record’s climactic ending.
Alan Fitzpatrick positions another outstanding release under his belt and Rekids continues its hot streak in 2021 with no signs of stopping, judging from the announcements of forthcoming LP’s from the likes of Mark Broom and Jon Hester.
